Emergency Players

Looking for emergency players?

… look at your Captains Information Pack – 2013

When using emergency players, ensure you consider the following important points:

  • Player should be a financial member of the club;
  • Player cannot play more than 3 games in total as an emergency before needing an Additional Registration (this can be across teams eg fill in for 2 matches for C Grade 2 and 1 match for C Res 1);
  • Junior players can be used, however they need to be played in appropriate grades. As a general rule, an A Grade junior cannot play in a D Special side. They must play in grades from B Grade up. A ‘B’ grade Junior can be used in the Senior “D” Grades;
  • Contact team Captains from grades below your grade, to see if they have a player available, emergency players can only play up grades, they cannot play down grades;
  • Look at the mixed teams for emergencies as well. The gradings are pretty much the same for Ladies (Tuesday nights), Mixed (Wednesday nights), Mens (Thursday nights), so emergencies across all 3 competitions should be considered;
  • You must not use more than 2 emergencies in any one match, however, special consideration may be given for a team to use 3 emergencies if a Senior Selection Committee member is informed and can in-turn speak to the association to get permission to do so.
  • When unable to find someone contact a Senior Selection Committee member to inform them;
  • The association will strip you of any games won by the player used to fill in if they are above the standard of the grade they are playing in.
  • When filling in the score sheet, emergencies must provide their full name and be clearly marked with an (E) and their history must be recorded in the space provided. “Social” is insufficient history and should be recorded as “Social player for 5 years” or the like.
  • Never, under any circumstances, play any player under a false name; and finally
  • If you have exhausted all avenues and need to default (forfeit), you must contact the opposition team involved.
